The Ministry of Health has confirmed the payment of nurses' training allowances covering the period from January to June 2025, bringing long-awaited relief to thousands of nursing trainees across the country.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, during a press briefing at the Ministry's headquarters in Accra on Wednesday.

According to Dr. Okoe-Boye, the government remains committed to the welfare of trainee nurses and continues to prioritize healthcare investments as part of national development.

“We understand the vital role nursing trainees play in our health system. These allowances are not just financial support, but also an investment in the future of healthcare in Ghana,” — Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye

The disbursement follows weeks of appeals from students and stakeholders over delayed payments. Jubilant scenes were reported on various campuses as trainees received the news with cheers and celebration.

The Ministry has encouraged students who have not yet received their funds to exercise patience as transfers are being processed through respective training institutions.
